MONTANA
FLOAT FLY FISHING
We
offer some of the finest trout fly fishing the west has to offer.
Our goal is to provide a personalized float service that caters
to your individual needs, whether you're seasoned or a first time
fly fisherman. Guides Bill and Jim Mitchell are both lifelong
residents of the Bitterroot Valley. Jim has also had the opportunity
to fish many of the rivers of the northwest. Our love of fishing
has given us the desire to share the wonderful sport of fly fishing
with our clients. Because we feel we should do our part for the
quality of the fishery, catch and release is our policy.
|
We are located in the Bitterroot Valley of western
Montana, and we exclusively fish the Bitterroot River, which meanders
through a valley with fantastic scenery . It's bordered on the west
by the beautiful Bitterroot Mountains and on the east by the Sapphire
Mountain range. The Bitterroot River has close to 100 mile of fishable
water that supports a healthy population of native west slope cutthroat,
rainbow, brown, brook trout and mountain white fish.
The Bitterroot River is a wonderful fishery because
of the wide variety of aquatic insects.
Major
Hatches:
The skwala are the first big hatch we fish. This occurs
between mid March to early April, followed by the salmon flies and
green drake hatch from late May through June. July and August have

hoppers, ants, and tricos to name a few.
